Yaquina Outstanding Natural Area

Leaving Newport, we came across the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area where the Yaquina Head juts out into the sea.  The lighthouse there is the coast's tallest.  Surrounding the lighthouse are tide pools teeming with crabs, urchins and sea stars: colonies of murres, gulls, cormorants, and even eagles!  A gorgeous area which words cannot describe:

So regal!

We didn't go down to the beach but loved
looking at those who did.

Murres, seals, gulls, cormorants EVERYWHERE!
That rock is teeming with birds of all kinds.
You can smell them from here.

Pretty nice place to be.....
