Nehalem Beach, OR

We had plans to try a national forest again, as it would be less expensive.  So, we ventured up the coast, past Depoe Bay, Lincoln City (where we, once again, got supplies) and took the Three Capes Scenic Loop out past Pacific City.  We went through Tillamook where the cheese and ice cream come from, past lots of dairy farms and beautiful wetlands through the countryside.  We do so love a blue highway.  We checked out three camping areas on the Loop which were very nice but did not have any ocean views, so we decided to head north to Nehalem Beach, since this might be our last beach experience for awhile.  We were not disappointed.  Nehalem is a large campground with all the amenities and has incredible access to the ocean and the bay.  Of course, we have chosen the ocean all three days that we were here.

These dunes are a 5 minute walk from Maxine.

It's a tad chilly in the winds, but we managed
to find a protected spot in the dunes.

Beautiful flowers (lupines?) grow in the dunes.

Boo hunkering down to escape the winds

We walked for miles up and down the beach.

Can you tell it was windy?

Wash day!  Even though our laundry basket is full, it is rare that
we find a handy laundromat (meaning, somewhere where we
might want to be for an hour or two!)  Sooooo, every week or
so, we wash our underwear by hand and find a place in the
sun to dry.  Today, it just happens to be on the bike behind Maxine.
