Art and Nature

We would have been leaving today for Colorado had we not signed on for another two weeks.  The paper at home opened this morning with "snow and freezing drizzle in the forecast", something we would not be embracing.  We hope things look a little brighter for the 16th.

This week, we have been spending more time at "home", although there have been several events that have dragged us out of our complacency and into the mainstream.  The first was a wonderful art exhibit at Belles Artes by "The Five Divas", one of which is our friend, Maryellen Morrow.  She does beautiful subdued, somewhat abstract paintings of the San Carlos natural areas, as well as other oil paintings.  Check out her website at www.maryellenmorrowart.com.  She and her husband leave Sunday for a two week trip to San Miguel.

My favorite was the one behind her that my flash ruined for this picture.
It had the most beautiful blues, greys and sage green hues and captured
her take on the beautiful sand dunes here.

It is interesting, the comings and goings down here.  Many people are now leaving who are  snowbirds and just come for the winter months.  Some who own here stay, even in the summer, and we hear that the Mexicans visit more frequently as it warms up.  It is exciting for people to renew friendships each year.  And, probably the full timers are happy to get a little peace and quiet when the rest of us leave.

Jim and Boo and I went out to the Estero later to watch the birds and see the lay of the land (sea) at low tide.  There were a whole slew of vultures overhead looking for what was easy eating (thank god it wasn't Boo).

Time for contemplation after swimming and chasing gulls

I just love the result of the movement of the tides.

Then home for a walk and a swim at Tomate.....

Adrian's home where he keeps a lookout for squatters.
He has a portapotty, a tv, a bed, an outside cooking area
and a dog.  That's it!

A blue heron we watched take off and land on a nearby buoy

Love the colors of the grasses on the path to the beach

The waters are now warm enough to swim.
