Last Week in San Carlos

Well, we are down to our final week here and are trying to see friends before we leave, get packed up and still enjoy our quiet time at the beach.  We went to the Soggy Peso for a last margarita with Karen and Jim and their friends, Nancy and Don-and the doggies:  Boo, Charlie and Sofia.  A wonderful salsa band plays there on Sunday evenings.  It was a beautiful day and the first that we have had rain.  There was a huge black cloud over the desert mountains that moved quickly but it only ended up raining for a few minutes.  A first for us.
Alot of younger people today

Jim and Sofia (she's a rescue dog from the La Manga fishing
camp-she is a handful and these two lovely people are doing
a great job training her.)

Monday night we were invited to a James Brown dance party at Margene and Joe's which was great fun.  They have a gorgeous house overlooking the sea and the bay.  We all danced up a storm on their outside patio and had a great meal under the stars.

Jim has been attending a computer club on Tuesday mornings.  The rest of the day we spent time exploring the old Catch 22 movie site with Bill and Cheryl.  We took an old dirt road out by the Tecate tree fish camp which used to be the main road between the two sections of San Carlos.  We walked around the ruins of the old movie set and then went for some fresh seafood and beers at La Manga.

Anywhere that is not fenced is fair game for trash removal--that
pink stuff is fishing net

Makes me sad-the people can't afford trash removal so
they just toss it into the desert from the fishing camps.

Good old Coke is very popular in the fishing village.

This is another little fish restaurant in the camp.

Oyster beds right outside the restaurant

Jim and Bill-This is a gorgeous spot-Dona Rosita's Restaurant.
You bring your own beer or wine and the seafood is fresh.
This apparently had a "For Rent" sign on it last year.
