The Hood

This morning Boo and I decided to capture some of the flavor of our neighborhood as we took our morning walk.

The house directly across the street-when the owner is here
he builds a fire in the fireplace.  We love the smell of mesquite.

Tile work at the entrance

Casa Bahia
This seems to be a party house for Mexican young people
on the weekends.  It is huge-there is even a pool on the roof.
Love that cactus planting!

Casa Royale
This one is right up the street.  Would love to see the inside.

Many have these beautiful fountains.  When these people
were here over the holidays, they had water running in it
with bougainvillea petals floating on every level.

Many homes have palapas like this or margarita decks upstairs.

The street we walk to get to the beach near us

Beautiful patio areas

I love this one!  It sits on the top of the hill and has an
outstanding view.

Love the colors of Mexico

These sit right on the bay and many have their own docks.

Colorful flowers everywhere

So restful looking this morning

The houses on the hill-most are huge up there!

Looking back at the condos from the hillside

Love these yellow flowers-trumpet vine?

A fabulous stone wall

So, as beautiful as this area is, it also comes with some drawbacks:  there are dogs that wander the roads-probably from the fishing camps;  roosters, dogs and really loud mourning doves can wake you up early in the morning;  it can be noisy with traffic going from one end of San Carlos to the other (we are right in the middle); during hurricanes the low lying areas get wiped out by the waters of the bay.

We think that all of this is worth it for the character of the area, the diversity of people who live here, the convenience of being close to everything, wonderful walking areas, watching and hearing the birds and watching the fishermen come and go in their boats.  It will be interesting to see where we end up next year!  We will spend some time looking at different neighborhoods this week.
