This part of our country is just so gorgeous! We took a left out of the base in the rental car and headed through some beautiful farm country and nary a store or gas station for many miles. Tomales Bay hugs the eastern part of Point Reyes and is about 15 miles long. We are thrilled that Maxine takes these winding, narrow roads so well. We wished we had more time so we could break out the new kayak but we had other things on our agenda for that day. We stopped in at Cowgirl Creamery which is a dream of an artisanal cheese shop, all made right there. We indulged a little to add to our lunch of salami and clementines and sourdough (and, of course, a local zin).

| All of their cheese is made on site |
We were sorry to find out that the lighthouse was closed during the week. We explored the very nice visitors' center (where Boo found a gopher snake) ...... and then headed down to Limantour Beach.
 |
This visitor center had beautiful
pictures with quotes from local authors,
poets, philosophers , etc. |

The gopher snake-scared me to death
but fascinated Jim and Boo |
 |
| We forget where we are (conveniently!)-right on the San Andreas Fault! |
 |
| Some beautiful dunes here |
 |
| Log, Linda, lunch and Boo |
 |
| Dog-friendly beach |
We walked down the beach with Boo but he was going crazy wanting to get in the water (which would freeze his little body in about 30 seconds), biting the leash, jumping up and down and barking like a mad man. Sooooo, we headed back along Tomales Bay where we stopped for fresh oysters at a wonderfully funky little shack where we could sit outside right on the bay.

Boo waiting in the car to see if he was
welcome at the oyster joint-He was! |
 |
| Sweet, fresh and wonderful-Both my husband and the oysters! |
