Beautiful Lake Tahoe

Today was a shorter drive so we had plenty of time to stop and get gas, water, propane, medicines at Walgreens and replenish supplies.  We took a beautiful drive down to South Lake Tahoe where all the casinos and shops are (deciding that was NOT where we wanted to be) and drove the beautiful northwestern side of the lake.  The roads are fairly narrow and steep but the views are spectacular-especially around Emerald Bay and points north.

This is one big beautiful lake!  It is 1,645 feet deep in spots and is 22 miles
long and 12 miles wide.

Jim took this as I was driving and trying not to look.

Our campside at Sugar Pine Point State Park

This campground has incredibly beautiful, well-maintained
trails through the forest and down to the lake.
We took a great hike up to the Pine Lodge, which was built in 1903 by a rich San Francisco financier and is a great example of how the wealthiest families spent their summers early in the century.

To be a friend of this family, you would be wined and dined
and waited on hand and foot.

The view down to the beach

Boo sees another pup!

We walked along the beach and could not
believe the color of the water.
Pictures don't do it justice.
It is dark blue and teal!

Everybody is happy!

Swirling to our luck in finding this spot

They still operate paddle boats on the lake.

And, we still have two more glorious days here!
