A Very Busy Weekend

We were invited over to Debby and Gary Wild's beautiful house on the road to El Mirador.  Check out their fabulous pool and hot tub.  And, that's Baja in the distance.

That's Keith, from Jim's Spanish class.  He is a vagabond like
us and comes from Denver.  I'm sorry I didn't get a picture
of the Wilds or their friend Norma who is a Mexican
marine biologist and told us so much about the Sea of Cortez.
This was a glorious morning.  I was getting a pedicure at Maru's
and these two little kitties, which she rescued, just curled up in
my lap.  Heavenly!  Do I look giddy or what?

Susan and David arrived in Hermosillo Friday night and stayed in a hotel there.  We picked them up on Saturday around noon and took them to Palapa Griega for dancing and a little lunch and lying in the sun.

Later we took them to San Francisco Bay where we watched the dolphins jumping like we've never seen them before and enjoyed a gorgeous sunset once again.

The best little boy enjoying the sunset.

The next morning we walked over to the Embarcadero for their wonderful breakfast buffet.

Watching the fishermen with their catch

They filet the fish right there...(not especially appetizing to me)

And the pelicans wait for leftovers to be tossed out to them.

Fishing boats in the marina

Celebrating Bobby's 71st birthday at the La Palapa Bar at
the San Carlos Plaza Hotel-with Susan and David and Cheryl
and Bill.
Sunday was the much anticipated performance of the Esperanza Azteca Orchestra and Choir.  We had seen a Christmas performance of this group in December and were mesmerized by how professional they were.  There are 226 youth ages 5-18.  This is a project to improve the quality of life for low income and marginalized children and gives them an opportunity to see a world beyond poverty, personal despair, addictions, and delinquency.

70% of the children have never played an instrument before
and most have never had any vocal training.  They practice
5 days a week, 4 hours a day after school.

None of this would have been possible without the
hard work of our friend, Rachelle Zola, who made this all
possible.  She is one determined lady!!

A very proud violin soloist

They all seemed so pleased and proud when the entire
audience stood and requested several encores.

This little boy was packed with enthusiasm but
could barely reach the cymbal.

But, check out that arm!

Afterwards we got together with Cindy and Ruth, Margene
and Joe and the Zoias at La Trattoria for some pasta and vino.
