The Pool is Fixed, Sea Gulls, the Chihuahua Factor #? and Janet and Tony's Departure

After about a week of digging a hole big enough for 3 or 4 men to stand up in and occasional jack hammering, (with several men even working into the night), the pool is finally fixed.  The hole is still there but everything is now working and the water is wonderful.  Janet and I spent the afternoon at the pool (with Boo, of course) while Jim ran out for more supplies and Tony took a nap.  It is unbelievable how much we all sleep here-sometimes 10 or 12 hrs!  Either the result of party-filled days or old age or a combination of the two!  We ate both breakfast and dinner at home, read our books and played games that we made up-like finding Spanish words for the color of cars that go by-such is life in San Carlos!

Janet and Tony are now going to leave on Monday, when they can get much better connections out of Phoenix and even arrive on the same day!  We think the gods knew Janet needed a lot more vacation!

On the first Saturday of each month there is a garage sale out back in the storage area as a benefit for an organization called Castaway Kids.  I scored a beach umbrella for $2, as the winds destroyed the one that I bought in the Outer Banks for $25.

The four of us have decided that since we are now all older, we can only do one event a day.  We ended up at lunch at Charley's Rock, which is a wonderful seafood restaurant right on the San Francisco Bay.  Some of us had shrimp for about the umpteenth time and others just quesadillas and margaritas-check out the size of the margaritas!  Someone had the bright idea to throw a tortilla chip out to the gulls and you can see how that evolved.  Janet, being the pigeon lover she is (ha!) was a little more than horrified.

Even Tony is smiling

Our most favorite guest at lunch

Check out the margarita!  And,  those chips didn't last long.
The white gull on the right just caught a chip.  I wish
I could figure out how to zoom in on this blog!

The Chihuahua (pronounced che-hua-hua, by the way) Factor hit again yesterday as Janet came down with a bug that kept us all lying low.  Big day for books and movies, which was fine since it was a little cloudy.  We had an early night and then took off for the 2 hr. drive to the airport in Hermosillo.  Since Jim had his Intermediate (!) Spanish class, Linda drove.  Only got lost a few times on the way home and was overjoyed that at least just asking for directions to Guaymas got people pointing me in the right direction.

Starving, we headed out to JJ's which we have heard has great tacos--true.  What we hadn't heard was that they make the strongest margaritas!  Two tacos and a margarita did us in and we are just now (5 pm) waking up from a lovely siesta.  Tomorrow will have to be clean up and laundry day.

Now our favorite taqueria

Check out that apron:  "Many have eaten here but few have died."
And Boo's newest amiga, Avery.
