Boo and Company Do The Nature Tour

This outfit is so embarrassing but I think the trip
will be fun and Linda is happy knowing I won't
fall overboard.  Am I cute or what?!?!!
We went out on a boat trip this morning to see everything from gulls, pelicans, herons, and blue footed boobies to sea lions and dolphins.  Apparently, this area has everything that the Galapagos do except Giant Iguanas and Tortoises (although we just missed the sea turtles traveling from their nests to the sea).  I can't tell you how thrilling it is to see sea creatures so up close and personal.
Gail and Harley, our guide and boat captain with
Jim and I and guess who?
We motored out of the marina around the Caracol where very expensive houses are nestled into the hillside (and where some sit precariously on the edge of the cliff since some of the cliff fell away during the last big hurricane here, many years ago).  It was early morning, so the lighting isn't very good, but you probably can get the idea.

This house has an elevator with a tiny car that takes
you up and down to their private dock.

Some of the houses that face the sea in a little protected cove.

I don't think I'd be too happy living on the edge!

A great blue heroin flying over Christmas Island (named such
because it's always white with an abundance of
guano).  There are many other islands out here, but they
seem to prefer living communally on this one.

I have to figure out how to zoom in on these pictures on the
blog.  This island was literally covered with blue footed boobies,
great blue herons, night herons, egrets, gulls and pelicans.
The huge nest of the great blue is right beneath the cactus in the
middle of the picture.

Blue Footed Booby heaven.  This is the only other place
aside from the Galapagos where they are found.

Our first sighting of a dolphin-right at the bow of the ship.

They literally raced our boat and seemed to be having
the best time.  I was in tears!  What an experience.  I can
only imagine swimming with them.  Jim has better pictures
on his phone camera but I haven't figured out yet how to
get them on the blog.  As soon as I do, I will post them.

The marina is literally full of very expensive boats-this one
being one of many.  Maybe I should try hitchhiking on one
of these instead of in the back of a pick up truck.
