Sooooo, I have had plantar faceitis and have been very careful to follow my doctor's instructions to not overdo anything and have continued to improve a little at a time. So I have been only taking 1/2 to 1 hr. hikes for 4 months. I have been gradually getting better.
Yesterday, I decided to join a group of women (17) for "an easy, flat, desert hike". I decided since it was "easy" and "flat" and most people around here are around my age that I would be fine. WRONG! It turned out to be 4 hours with a 15 minute snack break. I tried to say that I would just stay put and they could pick me up on their way back but they assured me that I would be lost in the desert, so I had to see it through. I did myself in! I could barely move at the end: the pain was just awful. I pretty much embarrassed myself as the limping lady newcomer at the end of the pack.
It was beautiful, as you can see-The Pillar Hike in Nacapule Canyon. But, I re-learned a lesson I got long ago when I was stuck in the middle of a terrifying white water experience down Cataract Canyon in Utah: Never get yourself into something you can't get out of. GOT IT!

| There were some beautiful barrel cacti. The women walked so fast that I realized taking pictures was a no-no-I would be left behind. There were lots of birds' nests in many of these. |
