Bar Hopping in San Carlos with the Birthday Boy-A Busy Sunday

On Sunday, it was a little rainy and overcast so we cancelled plans for kayaking with the Andersons and instead all went to brunch in Miramar at a wonderful outdoor seafood restaurant called Mariscos Mazateno.

Jason just loved the fish tacos!

The band was unbelievable.  11 am and it was primarily drums
and cymbals.  If this didn't wake you up, nothing would.

The restaurant was a huge palapa.  The service and food
were excellent.  Jim tried two new things:  marlin tacos and
a clamato/beer combination to drink-not my thing!

Next on the agenda was visiting two of the beach bars out at Algodones Playa:  La Salsa Bar to hear Assterisko perform -

Our favorite group, Assterisko

Some amazing dancers, in
more ways than one

Happy campers

The scene

I love this place on Sundays.  It is mostly Mexican families
that come.  This little guy was just playing with his truck
under the table in the sand.  Yes, sand floors are everywhere
at the beach!

Then, we hopped on over to the Soggy Peso to hear Danny Moreno and his band.

Jason is not much for dancing, so we mainly listened
and people-watched.

Father and son at Soggy - makes me happy!

This little girl absolutely fell in love with Boo and Jim
fell in love with her!  She was so proud of being bilingual.

Love this picture of mama and baby in
the hammock at the Soggy Peso!
We headed home for a quick change and then went out to Pilar to visit with Win and Cinda Johnson and Cec and Joe Alonge, Nora Kelly's in-laws.  Win and Cinda just moved over to these condos and Cec and Joe are staying there with friends of theirs.  We had drinks and snacks overlooking the ocean and then went to Win and Cinda's for a great pasta dinner.

Jason bought a beautiful blanket from a vendor.

Quite the scene for sunset-our own little outdoor room at Pilar.

You never get sick of this.

Wow!  Win in the sunset!

Time to go

  2. Looks fun. Jason says those fish tacos were the "bomb-diggity." He makes me laugh! 😊

  3. I'm glad you didn't rashly decide to cancel all your plans for the day because of a little rain. Good thing you had an alternative plan, in which case bar hopping definitely looks like a fun Plan B, in comparison to kayaking. Anyway, I definitely hope the whole family had a swell time enjoying delicious drinks and food. Thanks for sharing that, Linda! All the best! :)
