British Columbia

We loved the Okanagan area.  That lake is just huge and followed us the whole way up to the Lake Shuswap area where we met Bill and Cheryl, friends from San Carlos who live in Alberta and came over to meet us.  Shuswap is also famous for their wineries and we  availed ourselves of several of them.  The first one we went to (Recline Ridge) offered us eleven different tastings for free!  We had a grand time there, as they even offered us cheese and salami and crackers and a Canada Day cake!

Bill and Cheryl at Lake Shuswap

Yes, we had to partake of the cake!

Boo was welcome.

A beautiful setting

The winemaker/vineyard manager taught us all about the different grapes they grow there and how they sucquored and tucked the vines to encourage them to grow.

This is where the grapes will form.

The next winery was right at Lake Shuswap, Sunnybrae. It had a lovely no-cost tasting but we were enticed to buy a glass and some cheese and crackers because we wanted to enjoy the band that was playing outside.  It was a grand afternoon.

A little bluegrass and a little folk

Back at the campsite, we studied for our Canada Day quiz that would take place on July 1st.  We awoke the next day to Cheryl awarding us our certificates (after correctly identifying all the provinces and their capitols) and adorning us with Canada pins and a lei.  Even Boo got into the festivities!

We drove together to the Wells Gray Provincial Park where there are the most amazing waterfalls.

Spahat Falls

Bridge near Dawson Falls-we actually drove
over this!

Aren't they the cutest?

Yikes!  Took this picture, while driving across the bridge.

The North Thompson River

Then, off we went to our campsite in Blue River by Eleanor Lake where all but Bill jumped in.  Boo was afraid we were all drowning or being eaten by the evil lake Yeti and kept barking and jumping in to warn us.

Believe it or not, I was the first one in!

We are surrounded by lakes and mountains and rivers.  Tomorrow we arrive in Jasper.
