Banff -Bow River with the Zoias

We had reservations at Tunnel Mountain I Campground for 4 nights.  It was OK for 3 nights but not 4.  The families moved in with a gazillion kids and there was no privacy at all.  We moved to the Kootenays on the 4th night.  But, until then, we managed to enjoy ourselves in Banff.  We really liked the town, (again, even though it was the height of tourist season).

We are on the left and they are on the right.

Not a bad view

They rented a Pleasureway through Canadream-
they did not have a good experience as the
refrigerator never worked, despite a guy coming
out to the campground to replace it.

Good old Maxine is still hummin'.
We were all exhausted by the time we finally met up that first night.  They had just come to Calgary from a fabulous 70th birthday trip-a gift from their two sons, Josh and Adam, who accompanied them.  Needless to say, they hiked, swam, heliocoptered, biked and boated their way through that week, then had to contend with many incompetents at the car rental place and finally got to the campground-thank god for happy hour!  We had gotten up so early, were delayed by the tire episode and the accompanying stress of that-thank god for happy hour!  We amazed ourselves that we could cook burgers and laugh and enjoy getting together again despite all that had occurred before we got to this place.

The next day we all slept in, had breakfast and then took off in their van for Banff and a hike along the Bow River to Bow Falls.

The path over the river was right downtown.

We crossed this bridge over the Bow River about 3 or 4 times,
trying to decide where to go-got a few laughs from the workmen
on the bridge.

We found this young stud muffin shortly after
beginning our hike.

The water rages in places....

and is calm and light blue in others.

The falls

At the bottom of the falls, everything immediately calms.
