Our First Weekend in San Carlos

Friday night we actually went out at 8 pm to hear Mexican music at the Captain's Club.  We were a little too intimidated to dance ourselves - these people can move - even some of the older dudes!

A Saturday morning walk to the marina where the locals put on a holiday bazaar…..

Boo always leads the way!

I didn't buy a thing.  I find I don't need very much here.
On the way home we saw these fishermen coming home and asked if they had any fresh fish.  They showed us a cooler full of red snapper. We bought some from them, had them filleted on the spot and cooked them on the grill later that night.

We took a Saturday afternoon drive to the El Mirador area (about 5 minutes away) which was selected by National Geographic as one of the top 10 views in the world.  We were at the little beach in the distance later for sunset.

Boo loved the view from here.

Can you believe we had this to ourselves!?

There is quite a bit of trash on the beaches which is sad and disappointing but you can usually scope out a nice clean spot for yourself.

There are sea gulls, herons and pelicans everywhere
and some delightful little tide pools around the corner.

Sunday we lolled around on the deck for a bit, visited with some neighbors from Alberta (where it is minus 47 today!!!!) and then went to the Soggy Peso for a great Mexican band and some of the best margaritas and guacamole yet.

Boo is allowed at all the outdoor bars and restaurants.

I plan to be in one of these hammocks one of these days!
